Having worked with large teams of dancers in LA, NY, Portland and Mexico City, I’d like to envision a fashion series developed on dancers who can quite literally elevate the products using gravity defying poses and movements. My work plays off of geometry and the rhythm, something that often works its way into fashion. Imagine these types of compositions but dripping in Gucci. I could easily envision group formations paired with highly stylized individual shots similar to the ones above.
An additional direction that could be taken would be pairing an eco-conscience brand (if that opportunity arises) with scenes that depict dancers rising out of natural scenes, lifting up models that are wearing the eco-clothing or products. The series could draw attention to environmental problems while also featuring luxury products that are doing their part to reduce our global footprint. This could involve a certain level of nudity as well.
A specific example would be photographing a group of dancers painted blue, rising out of a pink lake (various lakes exist in Spain, Mexico, Peru and other countries)- this would represent oil spills, while artistically pairing the compliments of pink and blue for aesthetic purposes. The dancers could be lifting a model up that is sporting eco-conscience clothing. An inverse image could be created in tropical blue waters, where the dancers are painted pink. Vague inspiration could be drawn from the Moschino Aliens.
