Our story
It was a balmy autumn night in the city, and I saw him across the room, nonchalant posture leaning against the staircase. He was playing cool, but it didn’t stop me walking over to compliment his outfit. He didn’t know it yet, but he was the cutest boy I’d ever seen. His glance traveled up and down my body, finally landing back on eye contact, with a slight smirk curling the edges of his face. No more words were exchanged, but our connection began.
Two days later we were ankle deep in jungle mud, on a mystical adventure to find a waterfall in the rainforest. As we arrived to the edge of the river, nature beckoned us to sit and soak in the sun. Slowly, his legs and arms wrapped around mine. Bees and butterflies landed on our skin and it felt as though nature was choosing us.
Three years have passed and my partner and I still go back to that moment even when there’s physical distance. It’s not always easy, but we carry each other through this crazy place called Earth. I feel his energy every day, and it’s the moments we’re apart that the memories we’ve made elevate me even more.
